History

Kitchener, a wonderful city nestled in the heart of Ontario, Canada, boasts a fascinating history that spans back to the 19th century. Originally named "Berlin," the city was founded in 1807 by a group of adventurous German Mennonite settlers who were drawn to the area's abundant natural beauty and sought a haven for religious freedom. As the years passed, Kitchener embraced its German roots, and its culture flourished with the influence of German immigrants. Today it hosts one the the world's largest Bavarian festivals. However, during World War I, the city underwent a name change to "Kitchener'' to show solidarity with the British and honor Lord Kitchener, a prominent military figure.
